Webinar ‘Designing for year-round interest in a Mediterranean climate garden’, from ‘Le Jardin Champêtre’

Imogen and Kate are two Englishwomen who have built up a formidable body of experience with a wide range of plants suitable for a dry summer climate. In this webinar they share their knowledge from the  perspective of the designer. There will be plenty of ideas for planting combinations from two very imaginative experts.

Imogen Checketts is a horticulturist and garden designer with over 20 years of experience, who has worked with Piet Oudolf on replanting his first British public garden, and a number of heritage garden projects in England.

Kate Dumbleton is an experienced gardener who re-trained in horticulture in 2011, has worked on organic gardens in Australia and contributed to the Hanbury Botanical Gardens in Italy.

Since 2016 Imogen and Kate have run Le Jardin Champêtre, near Carcassone in South-West France, a garden, nursery and design business.

In this webinar, they will present a palette of plants for year-round interest in a Mediterranean-climate garden. There will be an emphasis on how they use colour, light, movement and structure to create gardens that are easy to maintain and require little or no watering in the medium- and long-term. 

You will learn: 
- a list of plants to use in a Mediterranean-climate garden including grasses, perennials, shrubs, bulbs, ground covers and lawn alternatives;
- how to combine these plants in layers in order to create a planting design that changes and works as an artist's garden; 
- where these plants come from and how to prune and edit to help them thrive throughout the year; 
- which plants can work well in seasonal bouquets.
